Carbon Pigment Print on PremierArt Generations Alise Museum Grade 100% cotton rag paper
Seeing the real world in Black and White is an interesting challenge. How will a color image transpose to grayscale? By learning to see the shapes and forms in an object, by visualizing the scale of tones, rather than the colors, even the simplest of things can take on an entirely new visual meaning.
Above is an example of an original color digital image, and the black and white print that lay hidden beneath.

A cool Northerly breeze carries the smell of fermenting leaves from the forest floor as sunlight streams through the beech trees and the last vestiges of autumn color. -Gan

“Leaves of Frost”
Carbon Pigment on rag paper
Several weeks ago, I awoke and found the windows in our house covered with frost. It formed plant like structures, weaving laces of stocks and leaves on the glass.
Frost crystals are a transient miracle of nature, akin to a human life. Each formation is unique, creating a fleeting pattern that will never be repeated.
